Many runners here in Castle Rock are getting in shape to participate in one of the five live BIG Runs on the ridgeline trail system and subsequently attend the Castle Rock Trail Festival coming in early October.
The trail system has trails teeming with deer, birds, prairie dogs, rabbits, coyotes, foxes, and other wildlife.
Swag for all races will include T-Shirts sporting this year’s graphic design, disposable professional chip timing bibs, free post-race photos, and post-race refreshments.
The liveBIG Family Adventure Run is a 1.5- mile course dotted with kid-friendly obstacles in Philip S. Miller Park. Registration will be $20.
The 5K will cost $35 and will also begin in Philip S. Miller Park. The other three races (10k, Half Marathon and 50k) will be on the Ridgeline Trail. The 50k will cost $95, the Half Marathon will be $65, and the 10k will be $45.
Packet pickup and late registration will be 6:00 am, with the 50k starting at 7:30 am. That will be followed by the Half Marathon start at 8:30 am and the 10k at 9:00 am. The 5k will begin at 9:30 am, and the liveBIG Family Adventure Run will leave the starting line at 10:30 am.
The Castle Rock Trail Festival and liveBIG Run will be Saturday, October 7, from 6:00 am to 3:30 pm at Philip S. Miller Park and Ridgeline Open Space.
