What's Happening in Castle Rock, CO…

The Crosscut Tavern was recently opened by Jen and Chris Wills in Castle Rock after they found a lack of an establishment in town that focused on craft beers, ciders, and non-alcoholic beverages.

The name of the tavern and its saw blades above the taps are reminiscent of when the couple were wilderness rangers with the United States Forest Service, and debris was removed using crosscut saws.

The space occupies what was once Rustic Crossroads, a home goods store. The couple renovated the space by redoing the walls, updating plumbing, building the kitchen, and installing the taps. The front window was converted into a glass garage door that can be rolled up during the warmer weather to enable guests to feel like they are outside.

Selections from local breweries, such as Buoy Beer Co. and Barrel Mountain, will be offered. Food items will include one entree and three to five appetizers. Flyer printing can be used for printing such lists of brews and menu items, as well as specialties of the house.

The Willses are both employed full-time so the tavern will be open Fridays through Sundays. Even though they will be open only a few days during the week, they expect that the tavern will be successful. The plan is that it will also be open for special occasions, such as when there is a Seahawks football game.
