What's Happening in Castle Rock, CO…

Local runners trot for charity

Many runners here in Castle Rock will be participating in the 20th Annual Turkey ROCK Trot before they sit down to Thanksgiving dinner.

This will be a 5k family stroll, walk, and fun run geared for serious runners or for those who just prefer a leisurely walk. The route will be to and through Downtown Castle Rock.

Flippin' Flapjacks will offer free continental breakfasts and coffee after the race, and runners over the age of 21 will receive free beer coupons.

Adult in-person registration is $40, kids 17 years of age or under pay $25, and the 1k Kids’ Dash for those under the age of 13 will be free. Registrants will have the option to either join an existing team or create one of their own. There is a virtual 5k run option for $35.

T-shirts featuring this year's graphic design may be reserved during registration, and finisher medals will be guaranteed to those who register before Friday, November 1.

An indoor expo will feature over 30 health and wellness booths, along with family-friendly activities. Proceeds from the event will go to the Help & Hope Center, a local organization that gives aid to those in financial distress in Douglas and Elbert counties.

The event will begin at 7:30 am on Thanksgiving morning, which is November 28 this year, at the Douglas County Event Center, 500 Fairgrounds Drive.
