Many in Castle Rock will be beginning their Thanksgiving Day by participating in the annual Turkey Rock Trot 5k.
Registration for the 5k is $45 and will go up to $50 on race day. The 1k Kids Dash will be free. Proceeds from the run will go to the Help & Hope Center for those in need in the Elbert and Douglas Counties. Race attendees are encouraged to bring toiletry items such as soap, toothpaste, and deodorant to donate to the center.
Runners will leave the start line from wave corrals where they have been assigned according to pace, and dogs will be allowed in Wave #6. Awards will go to the overall top three female and male finishers, the top finishers in four age categories, and the fastest team of four.
Registration and a Health and Wellness Expo will open at 7:30 am, followed by the Kids Dash at 8:30 am. The 5k will begin at 9:00 am with waves leaving every two minutes. The awards ceremony will commence at 9:45 am and the costume contest and dance-off will run from 10:00 am to 10:15 am. The event will wind down around 11:00 am.
