Castle Rock runners head to Greenland Trail Races

Racers here in Castle Rock are getting into shape to run or walk in one of the four races offered at the Greenland Trail Races coming in early May.

Registration for the 4-mile will be $35 before race day and $45 at the event; the 8-mile will cost $45 before and $55 on race day; the 25k will be $65 before and $80 on race day, and the 50k will cost $90 before and $105 at the race.

Swag will include finisher medals for the 4-mile, 8-mile, and 25k racers, and belt buckles for 50k finishers. All participants will also receive gender-specific technical race shirts, and beer and food after the race.

The course is noted for its soft dirt trails, scenic view of Pikes Peak and surrounding buttes, and its 50k is considered one of the state's fastest ultramarathons. Awards will go to the top female and male finishers in each race, and to the top three finishers across nine age categories in the 4-mile, and eight categories in the 8-mile, 25k, and 50k.

Running club spectators often get banner printing done before big events like this to show their support for the members they are cheering on.

The Greenland Trail Races will take place on Saturday, May 3 at Greenland Open Spaces, 1532 E Noe Road, Larkspur.
