Castle Rock gets ready for new development project

The Riverwalk, a mixed-use development project, is close to opening in downtown Castle Rock.

At a cost of $65m, the project is comprised of two buildings. One is a six-story building located south of Sellars Gulch and the other on the north side. In total. There will be 230 apartment units ranging from one- to three-bedroom, 14,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, and 34,000 square feet of office space.

Director of the Downtown Alliance, Kevin Tilson, commented that these types of spaces are important to the downtown area in that they help to make it vibrant and active.

The Riverwalk is connected to trails with a pedestrian bridge above Sellars Gulch, which links the pool deck of the north building to the south building. There will also be over 300 parking spaces at street level and inside the building’s underground.

The south building will have a restaurant and a Glacier Ice Cream shop, while the north building will have a marketplace similar to the one in Denver, with a pizza shop, deli, brewery, and many other vendors. Talks are underway for Dorsey Productions to move its headquarters from Jefferson County to the Riverwalk. Tilson said this could mean bringing in good jobs, many of which may require business card printing.

The south building is scheduled to open in March while the north building will be opening in May.
