Castle Rock events to usher in spring

Castle Rock will be offering four events to entice residents to get outdoors during April.

Families with children are looking forward to the seventh annual Castle Rock Special Egg Hunt. Members of the Front Range Christian Church will be hiding 25,000 eggs. Special egg hunts will be designed for children with vision, hearing, and mobility impairments, along with general age-specific hunts.

The free Easter Egg Hunts will take place April 8 beginning at 11:30 am at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, 500 Fairgrounds Road.

An hour before the big noisy hunt, there will be a quiet one-hour hunt for children who are sensitive to noise. This will be starting at 10:30 am.

Another outside April event will be the Earth Day Conservation Project. The Local Colorado and POST Partners Volunteer Program will conduct a volunteer activity as part of their Celebrate Earth Day.

Volunteers will be eliminating invasive plants in Sellars Gulch and getting watercress out of the Festival Park Plaza, replacing it with natural grasses.

The project will take place Saturday, April 22nd from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Festival Park. Pre-reservation is required.

Also, an Earth Day Festival will run from noon to 3:00 pm that day. The park will offer food for purchase, demonstrations, vendors, and local non-profits will be distributing information about their programs.

Vendors and non-profits that attend events like this often get some updated business card printing done before hand.
