Castle Rock celebrates holiday season
Season of the Star will be returning to Castle Rock right before Thanksgiving, with a reindeer-related day following a few weeks later.
Starlighting, the annual kick-off event, will begin with carol singers, musical entertainment by Biff Gore, and dance groups. Games to entertain the younger set will be in the kids’ zone. Hot chocolate and alcoholic drinks will be available for purchase, and there will be food trucks offering seasonal treats. Sponsor and non-profit groups man booths along the streets selling gift items and holiday goodies.
Santa Claus will be available for visiting and the 87th Annual Chili Supper will be at the Firehouse, 300 Perry Street, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
The tree lighting ceremony will take place on the Main Stage beginning at 5:00 pm, and The Star will be lit at around 5:30 pm in a tradition that dates back to 1936. Fireworks will follow.
Castle Rock Starlighting will be Saturday, November 19 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm in Historic Wilcox Square in Downtown Castle Rock.
After that, Reindeer Games will be a winter wonderland obstacle course for children. The venue will also feature live reindeer, sleigh and train rides, hot chocolate, outdoor games, and Santa. Parents who take pictures of their little ones and Santa at events such as this often take the pictures to local print shops to be added to Christmas family letters.
Reindeer Games will take place at Philip S. Miller Park from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday, December 3.
