Families to camp out in Brighton

A popular local event, Brighton’s Camp Out will return this August, closing out the summer with a night of group camping.

The overnight event invites families to camp out under the starlight together, with a dedicated area for up to 50 tents. Tents will be available to borrow as well as take from home. There will be a number of organized activities, including roasting s’mores and other summer favorites.

The camping area will also feature a number of outdoor-themed vendors to provide refreshments and supplies. Last year’s event included music provided by DJ Squirt and Natural Grocers food. The event has also incorporated Scouts and Guides groups to further the goal of providing young people an approachable outdoor experience.

Those with a license will be able to fish as part of the Camp Out. Outdoor events like this are a popular way to get outside in the summer, often advertised through flyer printing and social media. The Brighton Recreation Center, who organizes the annual event, has said:

“This is one of our favorite events to host as families and friends get to enjoy a fun-filled afternoon of outdoor/nature-themed vendors and activities.”

The 2026 edition of Camp Out will take place at Barr Lake State Park in Brighton on August 29 and 30. Tent space is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
