Chili cook-off heats up in Brighton

Flutterby will be hosting its annual Chili Cook-Off event in Brighton this November, inviting local chefs to bring the heat.

The competition will be open for locals to enter their best batch of chili, choosing their own ingredients and flavor. Last year’s competition saw over 30 cooks squaring off. Those who are more interested in eating than cooking can purchase a taster ticket, and sample the variety of chilis on offer. The tasters will also be able to vote on their favorites, with the top finishers taking home cash prizes.

The cooking will be for a good cause, as proceeds from ticket sales will go towards the Almost Home non-profit. The group provides housing assistance to families in need in the Brighton area. The cook-off is organized by Flutterby, which hosts fundraising events throughout the year, including annual cornhole and golf tournaments.

Competitions will be held in the Red, Green and Specialty Chili categories. The event will also include a silent auction with proceeds going towards the cause. Both chefs and tasters will receive a drink ticket for refreshment. Charitable events such as this often use methods like flyer printing and social media to attract attendees as well as recognize contributors.

The 2026 Flutterby Annual Chili Cook-Off will take place on the afternoon of November 7 at Copper Rail Bar & Grill in Brighton.
