Brighton to light up for holidays

The town of Brighton will hold a pair of events this December as part of its annual celebration of the holidays.

The winter holiday celebration will kick off with this year’s Tree Lighting, with a jumbo-sized holiday tree in the heart of town. Visiting families can meet with Santa Claus and visit the Teddy Bear Tree. The event will also include a Winter Market area with a selection of local artists, artisans, and food vendors. Exhibitors at seasonal markets like this often offer special festive promotional products or sales to entice new customers.

The Tree Lighting will be followed by a Festival of Lights Parade the next week. The nighttime parade will feature floats and marchers representing local community organizations and individuals, decked out in holiday lights, concluding with the appearance of Santa’s sleigh. The parade route will go down 10th Avenue, Bridge Street, and Main Street, with detour routes for traffic on either side of the parade path.

Both events will be sponsored by local businesses as well as organizations like Brighton District Fire & Rescue, Colorado Parks & Wildlife, and Boy Scout Troop 109. The Festival and Parade have become dual holiday traditions in the Brighton area, with past events including face painting and a countdown to the tree-lighting led by local luminaries.

The 2025 Festival of Lights will take place on Saturday, December 6 at Founders Plaza in Brighton, followed by the Festival of Lights Parade on the next Saturday, December 13.
