Brighton to light up for holidays

The City of Brighton has announced its plans for holiday celebrations this December, consisting of the traditional Tree Lighting Ceremony and Festival of Lights Parade.

Brighton will start the holiday season in earnest with its Tree Lighting Ceremony, with the town’s large holiday tree lit up for the first time. There will be a small festival leading up to the lighting, including face painting, a visit from Santa Claus, and the Teddy Bear & Friends Tree for young visitors. The City will be hosting a Winter Market featuring artists, artisans and chefs from throughout Brighton and the surrounding area, perfect for unique gifts or holiday treats. Marketplaces like this provide an opportunity for businesses to interact directly with customers, often distributing business cards and other promotional items.

The Tree Lighting will be followed a week later by the night-time Festival of Lights Parade. The parade will feature local performers as well as floats sponsored by local businesses, each one decked out with electric lights. The city’s first responders will be recognized, with Brighton Fire Rescue District and Platte Valley Ambulance Service both serving as platinum sponsors. Other community groups that have been involved with the parade in the past include Barr Lake State Park, Ent Credit Union, and Boy Scout Troop 109.

Brighton’s Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place on December 7 at Founders Plaza, while the Festival of Lights Parade will travel along 10th Avenue, Bridge Street and Main Street on December 14.
