Adams County will be holding its first official Earth Day Celebration, with Brighton among the cities participating in celebrating the international holiday.
The celebration will take the form of an outdoor festival with music, family activities like face painting, and educational exhibits related to environmental topics.
Chris Daniels and the Kings with Freddi Gowdi will headline the musical performances. There will be a market full of food trucks representing local tastes, including Taqueria La Autentica and Infinitus Pie. In addition to Brighton, the festivity will be co-hosted by the cities of Commerce City, Northglenn, Thornton, and Westminster.
First held in 1970, Earth Day has become an international celebration of spring and the natural environment.
One of the event’s points of focus will be promoting electronic appliances and vehicles. Attendees can bring in gas-powered yard equipment such as leaf blowers and receive a voucher for an electronic version at an area Ace Hardware location. Drive Clean Colorado will also have an exhibit to try out electric vehicles with test drives and rides.
