Volunteers sought for Vallejo healthy eating project

The City of Vallejo will be working with 7Eleven, Solano County Public Health, Vibe Solano, and Neighborhood Empowerment to make it easier for people in the community to make healthy food choices when they shop. To help make this happen, a call has been put out seeking volunteers.

The volunteers are asked to lend a hand with converting the current design of the checkout area of the 7Eleven convenience store into a ‘Healthy Checkout’, which promotes and encourages nutritious eating. They will be painting, decorating, cleaning, hanging up Banners, and getting the merchandise ready for the public unveiling.

Vibe Solano, which is one of the organizations supporting the effort, is committed to making healthier lifestyles accessible to more people in the city. It does this through the promotion of active living and making nutritious food choices. Funding has been provided through the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention.

People are needed to undertake the work of converting the checkout, which will take place in an atmosphere of fun on September 9, starting at 8:30 am. The day will run until 4:00 pm, and will take place at the 7Eleven located at 1095 Magazine Street. The grand opening of the checkout has been scheduled for September 15.

Those who would like to lend a hand can register their interest in doing so through the function’s Eventbrite listing.
