A day dedicated to the safe handling of chemicals in a workplace environment is on the calendar for Vallejo, and anyone who feels it could be useful to them is invited to participate.
The Solano County Fairgrounds will be the location for this year’s Northern California Chemical Safety Day, and a full day of learning will be on offer. Lunch will also be provided, and there is no cost for the public to participate.
The planners of the event have brought together a variety of experts in the field who will be giving presentations of topics related to chemical safety. The presenters include local state and federal government representatives, and there will be a focus on preventing accidents from occurring in the first place.
Along with information about safe handling and other practices, there will be discussions about what to do should an emergency occur. This includes how to craft a plan for an emergency shutdown and what to do to evacuate and decontaminate personnel, how to ensure medical care is available and also how to keep the public safe and informed should there be an accident that could affect their health. Business Cards can be prepared for any vendors who will be taking part in this type of occasion to distribute to the attendees.
The symposium will be taking place next Wednesday, May 2. It will run from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm, and an opportunity to register can be found on its online event listing.
