Vallejo starts road improvement project

The city of Vallejo and the Solano Transportation Authority have broken ground on the State Route 37 Fairgrounds Drive Interchange Improvement Project.

This project will cost $25 million and will improve the roadway along parts of Redwood Parkway, Redwood Street and Fairgrounds Drive in addition to several interchanges and intersections in the area within the city. About 1.5 miles of Fairgrounds Drive will be improved and widened. The interchange at State Route 37 will be extended to the interchange at Interstate 80 and Redwood Parkway. A Diverging Diamond Interchange design will be implemented that will improve the flow of traffic and safety and reduce congestion.

This project also supports Solano 360, an economic development throughout the county to encourage economic growth and revitalize the area. It focuses on the Solano County Fairgrounds that will offer a mix of uses that are sustainable, community-oriented, and flexible.

Several interchanges and intersections will be improved, including Redwood Street and Parkway, State Route 37, and Interstate 80. The goal of the project is to improve the safety on local streets and the existing intersection and interchange operations and increase the capacity of the local network of roadways to support growth in the future.

Local Print shops often assist in spreading the word about such road improvements throughout a community and region with Flyers and other printing services.

The project is expected to be completed within one year.
