Vallejo area event promises zombie-themed fun

A horde of zombies may soon be spotted near Vallejo, but there is no need to worry, as it is all in a spirit of fun.

The thirsty “undead” will be heading straight for Main Street in Martinez, and when they arrive, they will be able to sample an assortment of locally sourced craft beers and other treats. The event is open to anyone over the age of 21, and it will feature a new and improved costume contest that includes categories for the best female, male, and group zombie costumes. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners, who will be shambling their way along the catwalk in front of the judges and the rest of the crowd as well.

Each person who purchases a ticket to come out and join in the fun with friends old and new will receive a tasting cup, which they must have in order to receive beer samples. The ticket price starts at $25, and a portion of the proceeds for the day will be used to help support improvement and other initiatives in downtown Martinez.
