Next week, the Greater Vallejo Recreation District (GVRD) will be holding a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Disc Golf Course at Hanns Park on Skyline Drive.
The park has been open for play since 2021, but some updates and renovations have been made in recent years. A Disc Golf enthusiast, Jon Riley, asked the Board of Directors of GVRD three years ago to develop a gold course in Vallejo. Riley then hosted the “Knock the New Off the Chains” tournament once the first phase was completed. This tournament benefited the Open Space Foundation of the GVRD.
Since then, there has been continued work on the golf course. Among the items to have been added are benches, walls for erosion, permanent tee Signs, a kiosk, stairs, and a welcome sign. Funding from Measure K and the general fund of the GVRD made these updates possible. News of such updates and their reveal to the public is often made known with flyer printing.
Gabe Lanusse, general manager of the golf course, expressed his appreciation for the work local unions, volunteers, and staff have put in up to now. He said that improvements will continue to be made but that this milestone needs to be celebrated with the completion of the welcome sign and kiosk.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will be at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, September 10.Get a Free Quote for Signs
