New police camera system in Vallejo

The Vallejo Police Department will soon be implementing a camera worn on the body with an analytics platform in an effort to expand surveillance on its officers.

The cameras worn on the body and the audio analysis and transcription services are being provided by Truleo. The goal is to enable those who head up police departments to review the behavior of officers in their interactions with the public.

The department said that the technology will also detect services and de-escalation and are to be used as a tool to identify areas of improvement in the department. It added that the technology can produce trends and data-driven insights of individual police officers to reduce liability, mitigate risk, and improve service delivery. It can also cut the review time of videos and audio by as much as 90%, as the videos can be analyzed in real-time. More information about such platforms can be provided for the community with flyer printing and other attention-grabbing Print services.

Shawny K. Williams, chief of police, said that having Truleo in its toolkit will enable the department to build legitimacy and trust with the community. He added that transparency, accountability, professionalism, and integrity are the core principles of relational policing. He expressed his excitement about partnering with Truleo and creating a long-term commitment with the company.
