Empress Theater to feature exciting shows in August

The Empress Theater in Vallejo has a range of shows planned for next month. The shows feature live musical entertainment, and comedy.

On August 4, the Vallejo Jazz Society presents The Hot Licks and The Music of Danny Hicks from 6:00pm to 8:30pm. The group combines jazz, folk, and swing and has toured internationally in Japan and across the United States.

Wednesday Nights Live features musical entertainment from 7:30pm to 10:00pm. It starts on August 8, when singer songwriter Joyce Grant performs. Other scheduled performances are on August 15 (the New Copasetics Band) and August 29 (the Ron Burris Jazz Quartet).

On August 17 at 8:00pm, Alvon’s Rock and Roll Revue will perform. This evening features Mitch Woods, the music of Billy Preston, and Jr. Walker and the Allstars.

A comedy night starring Rocky LaPorte will be performed on August 24 at 8:00pm. The show has Rocky LaPorte, Sammy Obeid, and host Michael Pritchard. LaPorte won the national ‘Club Comic of the Year’ award in Las Vegas.

On August 25, at 8:00pm, the House of Floyd performs the music of Pink Floyd with a laser light show. This seven-piece band has developed a strong fan base over the years.

The theater is located at 330 Virginia St. All shows listed are open to all ages.
