Celebration of poets laureate to be held in Vallejo

Vallejo will be celebrating its Poets Laureate with an event called “A Decade of Poetic Unity” over the summer.

This year is 10 years since the first Poet Laureate of Vallejo, Dr. Genea Brice, was appointed. This event will honor the continued contributions and legacy of the Poets Laureate of the city, as well as that of the current co-Poets Laureate, Kathleen Herrmann and Jacalyn Eyvonne.

The event will honor present and past Poets Laureate with a keynote address and history of the Laureate Program. Featured works will include those of Jeremy Snyder, D.L. Lang, Dr. Benea Brice, and the current co-Poets Laureate. There will also be a Legacy Panel Discussion of the Poets Laureate that will feature dialogue with the audience and conversations with the Poets Laureate on their signature initiatives, experiences, journeys, and observations of the poetic landscape of Vallejo.

There will also be a launch of “A Decade of Poetic Unity: Celebrating Vallejo’s Poets Laureate,” which includes works by the current Poets Laureate, Jacalyn Eyvonne, Jeremy Snyder, D.L Lang, and Dr. Genea Brice.

Local Print shops can play a major role in promoting such unique and special events by helping to create Flyers, Posters, and other printed materials.

This celebration will be from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday July 26 at the Vallejo Naval and Historical Museum on Marin Street.
