Torrance to enhance police recruitment

A Recruitment and Retention Pilot Program of $4.6 million has been approved by the Torrance City Council to recruit and retain a high-quality workforce. This will enhance service levels and continue to deliver public safety to the community.

Mayor George Chen said there are challenges across the country because there are shortages in law enforcement. He added that Torrance has a top-level law enforcement agency, and the city is looking to attract officers who can be symbolic of the quality of those who work in the city.

The program will offer several bonuses that will include $10,000 for new public safety dispatchers; $40,000 for new police officers and lateral public safety dispatchers; and $100,000 for lateral police officers. There is also a retention bonus in the program that awards up to $10,000 for professional staff and up to $15,000 for sworn staff for those who remain in the job for five years.

More details about such bonuses can be outlined in flyer printing services. Flyers and other printed materials are ideal for informing residents of such programs.

Jay Hart, the police chief, expressed his appreciation to the City Council and the Mayor for their support and for the collaborative efforts of the City Manager. He said this will be an investment in the well-being and safety of the citizens of Torrance and will enhance the ability of the department to continue to deliver exceptional services.
