Merch shop for fan favorite movies opens in Torrance

A limited time location of Donguri Republic, the merchandise shop of Japanese animation giant Studio Ghibli, is now open in Torrance at Del Amo Fashion Center.

Offering items inspired by some of the most iconic animated films of all time, the store will house over 400 officially licensed products available for purchase. Donguri Republic is known throughout Japan and wider Asia as a destination for fans of Studio Ghibli, and the location in Torrance will recreate the wonder and warmth of the storytelling of the studio.

The retail experience has been specially designed and features a giant Totoro (from the 1988 film My Neighbor Totoro) waiting at a bus stop for the Catbus, along with other whimsical displays and wood-inspired interiors.

Among the films for which exclusive merchandise can be purchased are “Porco Rosso,” “Ponyo,” “Kiki’s Delivery Service,” and “Castle in the Sky.”

While supplies last during the opening days of the store, those who spend at least $100 will receive a limited-edition tote bag from the store. Such new stores and their unique offerings can be promoted throughout a city and neighboring communities with flyer printing.

Donguri Republic will be open until Thursday, December 31. Its hours will be from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm on Sundays, and from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm on all other days of the week.
