Torrance retail and dining center to undergo major updates

DJM Capital, a developer of real estate, is leading a project to revitalize Village Del Amo in Torrance. This is an area of dining and retail at the corner of Hawthorne and Torrance Boulevards, across from the Del Amo Fashion Center.

Banner printing is often used at such sites to inform residents of such upcoming retail and dining options.

The Village, which spans 180,000 square feet, has a main building with the HanNam grocery store as its anchor and a series of buildings smaller in size, known in the area as “restaurant row.” The restaurants currently open in the Village are Red Lobster and Benihana.

The buildings, which once housed Marie Callendar’s, the Souplantation, and the Elephant Bar restaurants, will be completely overhauled and renovated. Senior vice president of investments for DJM, Rob Grant, said that the latter two buildings will house multiple fast-casual eateries while the first building will be leased by Harbor Regional, a social service non-profit organization. DJM is also planning to provide aesthetic tweaks to the main center building.

The new HanNam grocery store has been a big draw for the Asian American community in the area and has returned the traffic of visitors to the Village of 2019 levels. Other stores in the Village that include Tender Greens, Starbucks, and BevMo have also increased traffic to the Village.
