Torrance library holds community activities

The Torrance Public Library will be hosting several ongoing and special events in the coming weeks.

Flyer printing is often used throughout a community to promote such activities.

For adults, the folk music of the British Isles and Appalachia will be presented at the end of this month. Ted Kane, a reference librarian and troubadour, will be performing everything from folk songs originating from England and Scotland in the 16th Century, through to music from the hills of Appalachia in the last century. This event will be online and takes place at 5:00 pm on Monday, January 25.

An ongoing activity for adults is Craft Delight, which is held on the first and third Wednesday of every month. Attendees have the chance to connect with fellow crafters to discuss the craft projects they are currently working on. This takes place online at noon.

STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) projects are held for teenagers every month. The Library has kits that can be picked up during curbside hours. A kit for a DIY Robot Hand will be available beginning Monday, January 25. In future months, a kit for growing basil plants will be available beginning Monday, February 22, and a CD Hovercrafts kit will be available beginning Monday, March 22.

Also available are curbside crafts for school-aged children. Valentine Buddy Magnets will be available for pickup beginning Monday, February 8 while a Smiley Face Mystery Grid will be available beginning Monday, March 8.
