Surgery center in Torrance offers transformative procedure

Mako SmartRobotics has recently been added to the services offered by the Goodlife Surgery Center in Torrance. This innovative procedure in joint replacement transforms the process of knee replacement surgery.

There are three components to the Mako SmartRobotics – three dimensional (3D) CT based planning, AccuStop haptic technology, and data analytics. Clinical studies have shown that through this combination of technologies, there is potential for less pain experienced by patients, less need for inpatient physical therapy and pain killers, improved soft tissue protection and knee flexion, and reduced stays in the hospital when compared to manual techniques.

Brochure printing is often provided for potential patients for such surgeries to provide them with more information about their latest procedures.

Dr. Jonathan Frank from the Goodlife Surgery Center said that this new procedure enables him to know about his patients. He added that he can make fewer incisions, which for some means greater preservation of the bone and for others less damage to the soft tissue. He said that the 3D CT scan also enables him to create a plan customized to the anatomy of each of his patients before the surgery so that during the procedure he can validate the plan and make any needed adjustments. In a press realease, he expressed his excitement about being able to offer this technology to his patients.
