A restoration event is being held next month by the Madrona Marsh Preserve in Torrance.
The Madrona Marsh Preserve is a vernal marsh whose wetlands receive water during the winter and spring rains that help to sustain the marsh and provide a resting spot for migrating birds. It is considered an oasis in the urban environment, which provides a habitat for reptiles, frogs, and small mammals.
The goal of the event is to enable participants to learn more about – and help create – different habitats. The restoration will involve removing non-native plants in the preserve and replacing them with native plants that are grown locally, along with picking up trash that has been left on the preserve. This work will help to attract many birds, butterflies, and other insects to the area.
This event is open to people of all ages. Those who are 14 years old and under need to be accompanied by an adult, and all those who are 18 years old and below need to sign a waiver form. Those who plan to attend should wear close-toed shoes and arrive on time. There will be a break during the event, at which time drinks and snacks will be provided.
Poster printing is often used throughout a city and the surrounding areas to promote such beneficial events.
This restoration event will take place on Saturday, November 21 from 8:45am to noon.
