Lumberyard to create job surge in Torrance

A new lumberyard is to be established in the Californian city of Torrance, and there are hopes that as many as 160 new positions will be created.

The lumberyard in question is scheduled to open its doors during the fall next year. The Ganahl Lumber Co. has aspirations to build on a plot of land which used to be owned by the Dow Chemical Plant.

The organization which will take the lumber operation forward is under the management of Tom Barclay. He has revealed that his firm first decided on Torrance as a location two years ago. If the business wishes to promote its new location it could opt to use local printing services in Torrance.

Barclay has said:

“Our business is cyclical. It’s affected by the economy, environmental issues, interest rates and home values, to name a few.”

He has stated that his company already possesses eight locations. These are sited in various counties, including that of Los Angeles. However, the company will not have a working site within the area of South Bay until the Torrance yard is operational.

Barclay has claimed that consumers have requested a South Bay facility from the lines at other locations. Urban officials have worked with the entrepreneur to make his vision feasible. This effort has included practical steps to improve the quality of the local infrastructure.
