The Torrance Police Department will be offering locals an opportunity to learn more about how its officers go about daily duties.
The Partners in Policing program will take place over a series of 12 sessions, and will give those who participate a behind the scenes look at the various areas in policing, including forensics, SWAT, traffic control, and the K-9 unit. It is open to everyone who lives or works in the city, as well as those who are a member of an organization that can be found there. This includes students attending school, as well as church or not-for-profit group members. To take part, an individual has to be 18 years of age or older.
This fall’s classes will begin on September 8, and will run until December 1. Each year, the department holds two sessions of instruction, and so far, 1,000 members of the community have graduated from the 37 sessions that have been held.
According to the Torrance Police Department, this has resulted in strengthened ties between local law enforcement and residents of the area it serves. Stationery printers can design and produce certificates for all those who complete the classes.
Those who are interested in finding out more about the Partners in Policing program are invited to visit the police department’s website for further details.
