Aircraft of war to fly over southern California

For Memorial Day, Palm Springs Air Museum will fly six vintage warbird airplanes over Southern California to honor those who have served and are still serving our country.

The six aircraft will include the T-33 Shooting Star Jet, two T-28 Trojans, the P-63 Kingcobra, the P-51 Mustang, and the C-47 Skytrain. Other aircraft will meet up with these planes over San Bernardino and them fly over Orange and Los Angeles Counties.

Palm Springs International Airport will mark the start of the flyover, which will then cross Coachella City Hall, Palm Desert City Hall, the Eisenhower Medical Center, and Palm Springs City Hall, among others in the route over Coachella Valley.

Then, aircraft from Condor Squadron Threshold Technologies, Inc., Flabob Aviation Associates, and the Inland Empire Wing of the CAF will join the six initial aircraft and fly over Southern California, including Loma Linda VA Medical Center, the Torrance Airport, the Queen Mary, and the city of Hope, ending at Chino Airport. Flyer printing can be used to inform such communities and their locations of the exact time of the flyovers.

The Palm Springs Air Museum has one of the biggest collections of aircraft from World War II and the Korean and Vietnam Wars, as well as flight simulators and a library with 9,500 volumes within an exhibit space of 86,000 square feet.

The flyover will take place beginning at 11:15 am on Monday, May 25.
