Stockton to provide funds for business service providers

The Stockton Entrepreneurship Grant Program is making funds available to organizations serving as business providers to small businesses and entrepreneurs.

There will be up to $508,000 made available by the city to such organizations that grow and expand the entrepreneurial system in Stockton and create economic business opportunities for the community. This amount is the largest which has been made available since the program was introduced in 2015.

There are two primary needs in the city. The first is to expand equitable opportunities and maintain sustainable growth after the events of the past three years. Organizations that qualify for these funds need to be business service providers assisting small businesses, start-up businesses, or entrepreneurs. Examples of priority projects include financial consultation, speaker series, and conferences. More information about such programs and their requirements can be made available with brochure printing.

Carrie Wright, Economic Development Director, said that the backbone of the city’s economy is its small businesses. She said that the Entrepreneurship Grant program will enable the city to strengthen the availability and quality of the resources that small businesses and entrepreneurs need to be successful. She added that this will build a more resilient and stronger entrepreneurial ecosystem in the city of Stockton.

Interested and qualified organizations can apply online. All applications are due by 5:00pm on Friday, October 13.
