Renovated pool opens in Stockton

Victory Park in Stockton is now open, after it had been closed for over 10 years. The pool had been closed due to maintenance problems, as well as leaks and mechanical failures.

Local Print shops can help spread the news of such significant openings with Flyers, mailers, and other printed materials.

The Mayor of Stockton, Christina Fugazi, said that bringing the pool back was a community effort. Voters passed a sales tax to fund recreational facilities in 2016, and this included the pool project. However, construction on the pool project only began about a year ago.

The investment by the city did more than fix leaks. The park now has a pool that is 75 feet in length and is complete with splashpads as well as a picnic area, bathrooms, a tennis court, and a basketball court. A founder of Friends for Victory Park, Miguel Guillen, said that the splashpads were designed to be accessible so that wheelchair users can cool off and have fun.

Leaders of the city said that the project helps families to keep traditions alive, and brings back an important piece of Stockton history.

The pool will remain open this weekend from 12:00 noon through 6:00 pm. An admission fee of $3 will be charged. Next summer, swimming lessons will be offered by the pool for children and adults.
