Stockton to hold workshop on plans for housing

A workshop will be hosted this week by the Community Development Department of the City of Stockton, designed to enable members of the community to learn more about the city’s plan to provide for its future housing needs.

These needs will be met through the Housing Element Update and the Housing Action Plan, through which the housing needs of Stockton and clear goals to inform future housing decisions are identified and established. Representatives from the city will share basic information about the Housing Element at the upcoming workshop, including its purpose and components, what it is, and why the state of California requires it. Such workshops and their importance are often promoted throughout a city with flyer printing.

A Housing Action Plan supports the Housing Element and will be developed as a process and resource-based document to increase housing production. It will serve as guide for non-profit organizations and developers of housing who are interested in building all types of accommodation in the city. It is hoped that the plan will establish design and development standards for housing in the neighborhoods of Little Manilla/Gleason Park, the South Airport Way Corridor, and Cabral/East Cabral.

The workshop will be held at the Van Buskirk Community Center on Houston Avenue from 5:00 to 7:00 pm tomorrow, October 19.
