Nearly 1,000 people came out to Stockton’s Weber Point Events Center to take part in the third annual Public Safety Day and Ducky Derby.
The event, which was hosted by the Child Abuse Prevention Council ( CAPC) and Stockton Police Youth Activities saw adults and children alike engage in a variety of activities and presentations that had been organized by law enforcement professionals. Along with this, the derby raised funds and awareness for the council, which works to help prevent, and educate people about child abuse. Local businesses and individuals were given an opportunity to “adopt” one of the rubber ducks by making a donation to the CPAC. According to one of the co-chairs for the event, Christina Gilbert, the organization hoped to raise nearly $60,000. She went on to say that the event is a great way of bringing families together and its low cost leaves plenty of funds left over to help support CPAC’s activities.
All together, 10,000 ducks were released, and the first 10 to make it past the finish line earned their sponsors a prize.
Along with the race, there were a variety of displays from the police and other community service organizations. There were demonstrations by police dogs, a bike rodeo, a display of police vehicles and more. Get a Free Quote for Promotional Products
