Eric Jones, Chief of the Stockton Police Department, has announced that he will be retiring.
James Chraska, Assistant Chief, will become Interim Police Chief once Jones steps down so that the city can conduct a search across the country for a new police chief.
Many kinds of printing services can be used to create materials to post such openings across the country and their requirements.
Jones earned a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Sacramento in criminal justice and a Master of Public Administration degree from National University. He also has certificates from the National Academy Law Enforcement Executive Development Association of the FBI, and the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training.
In 1993, Jones joined the Stockton Police Department and he increased his job responsibilities over the years. He started as a police officer and worked his way up within the department to become chief of police in March 2012. Under his reign as police chief the staff grew from 320 people to 434 today. In 2012, he formed the Stockton Police Department Community Advisory Board so he could consider the needs of the community first.
Harry Black, City Manager, said that Jones has had a long and exemplary career with the city and in law enforcement, and expressed his gratitude for his years of service to the community.
Jones is planning to retire at the end of this year.
