People of the city of Stockton have received an invitation to submit nominations to name three new parks in the city.
There is a park at Parliament Street and Skynyrd Way that is 69 acres; a park at Orbison Lane and Valens Way that is 2.7 acres; and a park at the corner of Scott Creek and Westlake Drives that is 11.5 acres. More details about such parks and requests for input like these are often provided with flyer printing.
Director of Community Services, Kris Farro, said that names of the parks can reflect something about the historical, topographic, or geographic significance of the area or that honor outstanding individuals who are remembered or recognized for their service to the community of Stockton for over 25 years. Farro added that all applications will be reviewed and considered for the name of each park.
The Naming Committee will review the nominations and make recommendations to the City Council. Representatives from the Planning Commission, Community Services Department, Cultural Heritage Board, Public Works Department, Parks and Recreation Commission, and the Stockton Arts Commission make up the Naming Committee. Names that are not selected will be kept for three years when considering the names of other facilities, parks, and properties in the future.
The application period to submit nominations is open until Monday September 30 at 5:30 pm.
