A new flight school has been opened by Flight Dogs at the Stockton Metropolitan Airport.
Flight Dogs originally opened in Hayward about six years ago. The fleet at the Stockton campus has two Cessna 172 airplanes which are aircraft piloted by students for training purposes. There are two DA-40 and one DA-62 aircraft, which are more advanced aircraft, at the Hayward location.
Flight Dogs has 22 certified flight instructors, of which six are certified to train novices. It is expected that more will also become certified in this manner.
Spencer Faraday, a senior certified flight instructor (CFI), said that the price of instruction on Stockton is more competitive than other flight schools as the airspace of the Stockton Metropolitan Airport is less crowded than any of its counterparts in the Bay Area. He added that the airspace is not as congested, which provides more time for students to learn.
For those who are unsure about flying, a discovery flight is offered by Flight Dogs where prospective students may bring a friend to fly beside the pilot in a controlled environment. There is a yoke on the aircraft on both sides so that the instructor can easily take over the controls.
