New womens soccer team to come to Stockton

The city of Stockton will soon have a professional women’s soccer team, with the first women’s expansion team for the 2023 season announced by the United Soccer League (USL).

The general manager for the team and head coach have been hired, although their names have not been disclosed. Such teams also need to develop a Logo Design for their memorabilia and swag. The theme for the team said that their mantra will be “Our City, Our Team.”

CEO and President of SC Stockton, Lee Neves, said that as Stockton is his home, he is proud that he can bring a team to the city of such a caliber as the USL. Vice president of Youth and Pre-Professional Properties, Joel Nash, also expressed his thrill in welcoming the first expansion team of the 2023 season to California, and expanding west into the state. Nash added that this new team makes the league reach from one coast to another in just its second season.

Neves said that the goal is to make the playoffs next year, or possible even claim a championship. He wants the city to be proud of this new team, to have the residents call it their own, and to celebrate their success.

It is planned that the team will kick off its season next year.
