Public comment can now be made on the draft of the Vision Action Zero Plan (VZAP) put together by the city of Stockton.
The Stockton VZAP represents a clear commitment to improving transportation safety across the city. It outlines the Stockton’s approach to Vision Zero, an initiative aimed at eliminating serious injuries and deaths on roadways for all modes of travel, including cycling, walking, and driving. The plan will identify practical strategies and areas of opportunity to reduce risk while also supporting more equitable mobility and enhancing accessibility.
The five major areas addressed by the plan are outlining approaches for safer speeds, safer vehicles, safer roads, safer people, and post-crash care of comprehensive emergency response practices.
Poster printing can be used by cities to announce the availability of such plans to encourage feedback from the community.
The Safe Streets and Roads for All grant program of the United States Department of Transportation awarded the city of Stockton funding for the development of a safety action plan. The program funds local initiatives that prevent serious injuries and roadway deaths by developing well-defined and holistic strategies to address safety problems on roadways.
Comments made by the public will be addressed before the final plan is published.
The VZAP is available on the city of Stockton’s website. Comments are due back to the vice mayor by next Monday, August 31.
