The sublease of the Stockton Shelter for the Homeless in Stockton will be transitioned to St. Mary’s Dining Room next month.
The two non-profit organizations have reached an agreement that will enable an orderly and smooth transition so that the men, women, and families in the shelter will still be able to receive needed services with disruption or relocation.
Harry Black, Director of Emergency Services and City Manager, expressed his excitement that the sublease of the Stockton Shelter for the Homeless has been assigned to St. Mary’s Dining Room. He added that a collective effort of staff from the city government and external partners has made this sublease possible. He said that every effort will be made to foster a smooth transition so that the most vulnerable people of the community will still have access to services and a roof over their heads.
Those organizations involved in such efforts can also work together to create hand outs and other materials from a local Print shop and these will allow those affected to have more information and services and other amenities provided.
Mayor Kevin Lincoln said that the commitment and compassion of the entire community is reflected in the collaborative efforts of St. Mary’s Dining Room, the city of Stockton, and the Stockton Shelter for the Homeless. He added that this demonstrates that the community is dedicated to the protection, safety, and support of those without homes.
