This month, Dr. Omid Pourzanjani will become the 11th President and Superintendent of San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton.
Announcements such as this one are made known to college and surrounding community through poster printing services.
Dr. Pourzanjani is a former first-generation college student and an immigrant and has been in higher education for over 35 years. He has been a professor and has held several administrative positions, such as vice president of instruction and student learning. His most recent position was visiting vice chancellor in the Chancellor’s Office at the California Community Colleges.
He said that this is a great opportunity for him to serve the college and the community. He hopes to help many students, such as himself who are the first in their family to attend college, to be successful in higher education. He knows this is a challenge, but he is confident of his ability to help these students reach their goals of graduation.
Dr. Catherine Mathis, President of the Board of Trustees at Delta College, expressed her excitement about welcoming Dr. Pourzanjani to the college community. She added that his leadership style and experiences in higher education are ideal fit for the implementation of the Guided Pathways program. It is a privilege that the college has selected him as the new President and Superintendent.
