Delta College in Stockton will be hosting a performance of the United States Marine Band later this month. This is an opportunity for residents to enjoy the oldest continuously active professional music organization in the country.
Events such as this one often require poster printing to promote themselves throughout the community.
Col. Jason K. Fettig, director of the Marine Band, has selected a wide range of music for the performance, ranging from traditional marches of John Philip Sousa, the bands 17th director, to a salute to the Armed Forces and instrumental solos.
Col. Fettig said that the band tries to play music in its performance that celebrates the region being visited, whether that be folk music from that area or marches that provide a connection to the region. Those who come to concerts, he adds, are appreciative of the various experiences they can expect, so the programs are designed to reflect the musical heritage and diversity of the nation.
The United States Marine Band was founded in 1798 and first performed in Stockton in 1892, with its most recent performance in the city in 2009. This tour in October includes five western states and 28 concerts.
The performance will be on Thursday, October 17 at 7:30 pm at the Atherton Auditorium at the college. Tickets are free but must be reserved in advance.
