Museum set to bring superheroes to life

The Haggin Museum in Stockton is currently hosting the exhibit ‘Heroes and Villains: The Comic Book Art of Alex Ross’. It originated with the Andy Warhol Museum.

Approximately 130 of the artist's work will be on display. This includes childhood drawings, paintings, photographs, and sculptures from his own collection.

Many of Ross’ works are of superheroes such as Superman. With that in mind, the museum is hosting two upcoming ‘2nd Saturday for Families events’ for children between the ages of 5 and 12.

The first one is the Super Power Family Festival. Everyone is encouraged to come dressed as their favorite superhero. There will be activities such as drawing action figures, making a storyboard, creating a personal super logo, and watching artists’ demonstrations. The second event, taking place in December, will be entitled ‘Superman's Christmas Adventure’ and will craft making sessions in which participants can take home their creations.

To encourage families in the Stockton area to attend these fun events, organizers may invest in services like flyer printing to help spread the word.

The ‘Heroes and Villains’ exhibition will be on display at the Haggin Museum until January 16, 2015. The Super Power Family Festival is being held on November 8. The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday; admission prices are $8 for adults, $7 for seniors, and $5 for youth and students.
