Infrastructure project in Stockton to help with flooding

Ground has been broken in Stockton on a major infrastructure project that is expected to improve flood protection for many in California and save potentially billions of dollars in property damage.

This is the Tenmile Slough levee project and is part of the Lower San Joaquin River Project, which is a project that will cost $1.95 billion and is funded by the California Department of Water Resources (DWR), the San Joaquin Area Flood Control Agency, and the United State Army Corps of Engineers. Once it is completed, it will improve the area’s protection from floods for more than 120,000 residents and property worth $28.7 billion by the San Joaquin River for the central and north Stockton Area. This project is critical for the Tenmile Slough levee segment which is considered to be the most deficient in the levee system of the Central Valley.

Karla Nemeth, Director of the DWR, said:

“Protecting the people and economy of San Joaquin County from the devastation of extreme flooding is enormously important. Projects like this pay for themselves many times over as shifts between extreme wet and dry conditions become more common.”

Flyer printing can be used to provide more details and information about such projects so that residents in the area can stay informed about their progress.
