History museum set for tree-mendous display

The 23rd annual Festival of the Trees is taking place this December for two days, presented by the Docent Council of the San Joaquin County Historical Museum.

The festival will feature 70 Christmas trees on display, each of which will have been uniquely decorated by individuals, businesses, or groups. There will also be plenty of holiday activities going on, and these will be suitable for the entire family.

Children's activities over the two days are set to include crafts to make and take home, photos with Santa, and cookie decorating. There will also be other holiday-themed entertainment, food for purchase, and model train displays. Museum staff, who will be dressed in Victorian and pioneer costumes, will provide demonstrations of pioneers skills. Guests can also tour several historical exhibits.

Some of the decorators may have worked with banner printing companies to make their trees stand out from the rest. Visitors from all over the area, including nearby Stockton, will no doubt appreciate all the work these designers went through to produce their pieces.

The Festival of Trees takes place at the San Joaquin County Historical Museum from December 6 to 7. Tickets are $10, or $1 for children between the ages of 2 and 12, and various activities come with a small fee. To find out more about the festival and activities, call 209-331-2055 or 209-953-3460.
