College in Stockton holds online ceramics exhibit

Delta College in Stockton will be holding its Visions in Clay exhibit for the 11th consecutive year. This year’s exhibit will be available online and is the largest such exhibit in the San Joaquin Valley.

Jan Marlese, Coordinator for the L.H. Horton Jr. Gallery at Stockton College, said that they very much wanted to hold the exhibit in person but, given the present circumstances, decided to take advantage of available technology and offer the public the opportunity to see this work. In conjunction with the exhibit, there will be opportunities for those from around the country to meet with the artists virtually to discuss their work. Local Print shops are often hired to make the public aware of such special exhibits and their corresponding events.

Ceramics Monthly, a national magazine, has featured the exhibit several times. In this year’s exhibit, there are 40 artists from around the country displaying 56 pieces of work. The exhibit also features several awards, with the Founders Award sponsored by the San Joaquin Potters Guild.

There will be an artist talk with ceramics professor at California College of the Arts, Nancy Selvin, on Thursday, September 17 from 11:00 to 12:00 pm and an artist talk with Marianne McGrath, ceramics professor at California State University Channel Island, on Thursday, September 25 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The exhibit runs until Saturday, October 9.
