San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton will be offering courses for college credit for high school students this summer.
These courses will be offered online and will enable students to enroll in these courses while still attending high school. Seniors may also take these courses if they are planning to graduate after May 24.
The courses are offered in a flexible format such that students can follow and complete them in their own time. Courses to be offered in the Stockton Unified School Districtinclude:
• Public Speaking, taught by Mariela Guzman
• Reading and Composition, taught by Martin Rojas
• History Through Film, taught by Kaliopi Pappas
Colleges often turn to poster printing to create prominent displays with more information about such courses, so that students will take notice and stop to learn more about them.
To take these courses, students need to apply first to the college and then complete the College Early Start form. Once submitted, this form is sent to the student’s parents and then their guidance counselor at high school to sign the form electronically. If not previously completed, students also need to complete the California College Promise Grant application. Then students can register for any courses in which they are interested.
These courses will run from Monday, June 14 through Sunday, July 25.
