Celebration of all things Filipino planned for Stockton

A festival is to take place in Stockton that will celebrate the culture of the Philippines and the contribution it has made to the city.

The Barrio Fiesta will be marking its 43rd year in the community. There will be live entertainment including music and dancing, as well as cultural displays, a fashion show that features Filipino designers and models, and food.

Some of the Filipino agricultural workers who originally organized the event back in the 1960s and ‘70s will be on hand to join in the festivities. In its early days, it symbolized the dancing and music that farm workers would engage in after a day of hard work in the fields.

Vendors are being sought for the fiesta. These include those who sell food, arts and crafts jewelry, T-Shirts, or other items that reflect the Filipino culture. Those who are interested are asked to call 209-466-1416 .

The Barrio Fiesta will take place on August 14 from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm at The Filipino Center Plaza, which is located at 6 West Main Street in Downtown Stockton. There is no charge for admission. Graphic design can be used to create effective promotional materials such as Posters, Brochures, and Flyers for events such as this.

Those who are interested in participating in the celebration as a spectator or vendor are invited to visit the event’s website for further details.
