Arena to be updated with federal funds

The Stockton City Council has approved the expenditure of $2.5m from the money allocated to the city from the America Rescue Plan. It will go to arena improvements and two other areas.

Announcements of such improvements are often made known throughout a city with banner printing.

Of this $2.5m, $1.5m will go towards improvements at the arena and the remaining amount will be divided between supporting previous state-mandated sick leave which has not been funded, and improving safety and traffic on the Miracle Mile part of Pacific Avenue.

One of the focal points of the improvements for the arena will be the installation of a new video board, as the current technology in the arena has had an impact on the city applying to host future events. A new sound system will also be installed, and an electronic ribbon will be created around the arena which will be used by advertisers. Wi-Fi technology will also be installed in the arena.

Christina Fugazi, a member of the City Council, said that it has been known for some time that work needed to be done on the technology in the arena. Fugazi hopes that these improvements will not only help the city to attract events, but also to attract visitors and keep residents in the area.

The improvements are expected to be completed by next year.
