The San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors has approved an amount of $26.2 million to update the Stockton Metro Airport.
The funds will be used to increase capacity for commercial airline services, undertake the revitalization of key facilities, and reach its goals for economic development for the future. These will include investments in the terminal with remodeling of the waiting area, baggage claim, and ticket counters, among others. The restoration and redesign of the west ramp, new awnings and aircraft storage hangars, construction of a self-serving fueling facility and pilot center, and a study on air traffic control are also features of the renovations.
Local Print shops can offer more details about such improvements and their benefit for the community and the region.
The airport is used by Allegiant Airlines for its non-stop flights to Phoenix and Las Vegas. The airport is also key to the network of Amazon Prime, with many flights every day with cargo. It is becoming one of the 11 important distribution facilities in the region that includes Turlock, Patterson, and Tracy.
Miguel Villapudua, chair of the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors, said that this funding and subsequent improvement will help to attract prospective cargo operators and airline carriers to the region, thereby contributing to economic development, jobs, and enhancements to the quality of life. He added that he foresees transporting thousands of passengers daily on multiple airlines to places across the country.Get a Free Quote for Print
